Abstract

The Afghan Medical Complex (AMC), led by the Atta Welfare Foundation, has secured a permanent site for Afghanistan’s first dedicated multi-oncology hospital. Following years of planning and a challenging process to obtain verified land in Kabul, 22,000 m² have been purchased outright in New Kabul City, free of leases or external conditions. Strategically located between the Kabul–Bagram Airport Road and Kabul–Nangarhar Highway, the site will ensure access to patients from across 14 provinces without the burden of navigating central Kabul. This milestone provides stability, sustainability, and a lasting legacy for the fight against cancer in Afghanistan, marking a decisive step toward the design and construction of a world-class oncology facility. The land purchase not only secures the hospital’s foundation but also symbolizes hope, resilience, and a healthier future for Afghan communities.

Introduction

The Afghan Medical Complex (AMC) by Atta Welfare Foundation has achieved yet another historic milestone in its mission to provide quality, affordable, and local treatment for cancer in Afghanistan. After years of planning, discussion, and tireless effort, we are proud to announce that the land for the construction of AMC has been officially purchased.

This achievement secures a permanent home for Afghanistan’s first dedicated multi-oncology hospital, ensuring that the project will stand on a foundation that belongs wholly to the cause — with no strings attached.

Details of the Land Purchase

After months of research and the challenging process of finding a clean and verified land document in Kabul — particularly for a site large enough to meet our requirements — we have finally secured the perfect location. This was not an easy task, as land ownership and documentation in Kabul often involve complications. However, through diligence and persistence, we ensured that this land is legally sound and fully dedicated to the cause.

The land has been purchased solely for the Afghan Medical Complex and its sustainability. It is not leased, rented, or bound by any contractual arrangements with third parties. This means the land will forever belong to the hospital and the people of Afghanistan who will benefit from it.

The site is located at:

H8R5+J48, Kabul, Afghanistan
1st Phase, New Kabul City Project, Afghanistan

The total area of the land measures 11 jirab (22,000 m²), making it a substantial and secure foundation for the construction of a modern, comprehensive cancer hospital.

A Strategic Location

The location of the Afghan Medical Complex is one of its greatest strengths. The site lies between two of Afghanistan’s major highways:

- Kabul–Bagram Airport Road
- Kabul–Nangarhar Highway

Together, these roads connect around 14 provinces of Afghanistan. The hospital will therefore be accessible to patients across the country without the need to pass through the congested centre of Kabul. This will greatly reduce travel challenges and ensure easier access to timely care for those in urgent need.

Why This Matters
Owning the land outright is not just a technical or legal step — it is a profound achievement for the Afghan people. It means:

- Stability: The hospital will operate on land it fully owns, eliminating future risks of rent disputes or external interference.

- Sustainability: AMC can now plan its infrastructure development in phases, confident in the permanence of its foundation.

- Accessibility: The strategic location ensures that patients from across Afghanistan can reach the hospital more easily.

- Legacy: The land will forever be dedicated to the fight against cancer and the service of the Afghan community.

Looking Forward

With this milestone, AMC now moves closer to the design, partnership, and construction phase of Afghanistan’s first multi-oncology hospital. The purchased land is not only a physical foundation but also a symbol of hope, determination, and long-term vision.

This achievement belongs to every supporter, donor, and partner who has stood with us in this journey. Together, we are building more than a hospital — we are building a future where quality, affordable, and local treatment is available for every Afghan cancer patient.

Conclusion

The land purchase marks a turning point for the Afghan Medical Complex by Atta Welfare Foundation. What was once an idea is now grounded in reality. With 22,000 m² secured in a prime location, the dream of a cancer hospital in Afghanistan is no longer distant — it is firmly within reach.
