AMC: Building Hope, Brick by Brick

The Afghan Medical Complex (AMC), a transformative initiative by the Atta Welfare Foundation (AWF), is currently under construction and will stand as Afghanistan's first specialized 100-bed oncology hospital. Strategically located just outside Kabul—at the junction of key national highways—AMC is designed to provide accessible, affordable, and comprehensive cancer care to patients across the country. Once completed, it will mark a turning point in Afghanistan's healthcare landscape.

At the core of this pioneering project is a diverse team of international experts—spanning fields such as oncology, healthcare management, architecture, finance, and engineering. From multiple countries, these professionals are united by a common goal: to raise the standard of cancer care in Afghanistan and bring treatment closer to home for thousands of families.

Together, we are laying the foundation of hope, healing, and high-quality care. Brick by brick, the AMC is rising—not just as a hospital, but as a symbol of resilience and renewal for a nation that has waited too long.

SERVICES

Afghan Medical Complex (AMC) will be Afghanistan’s first specialised centre for cancer and blood disorders, offering screening, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term care. We are prioritising breast, lung, and stomach cancers as they are the most common and deadliest cancers in Afghanistan (GLOBOCAN 2022; Ministry of Public Health, Afghanistan), and Thalassemia due to its high prevalence from consanguineous (blood-related) marriages (MoPH, 2021; WHO EMRO). AMC will save lives, reduce the need for treatment abroad, and build local medical capacity.
